!!!!!! I adore Peter's Friends, and I don't think I knew quite why until I read this bit of this gorgeous essay:
Peter’s Friends is not a movie for people like Sam, who are living it. It is a movie for people like me, and like most of us, pressing our faces against the glass, looking into the warm yellow rooms of other people’s homes from the dark street outside.
