I also bought THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT in a city I didn't live in this week last year, before suddenly rushing home, had been eagerly anticipating it for years since reading and completely loving WOLF HALL and BRING UP THE BODIES, and it took me months and months to read through it. That is to say, thank you so much for writing this essay specifically for me, very thoughtful of you (although I didn't reread the first two).

Absolutely loved this post. I fell in love with the books and had the opposite reading experience (is it still reading if I listened to it?), binge listening to the audiobooks in June last year, spending many hours at a time on a hot English summer's day in Wiltshire fields listening to Cromwell's machinations. I have reread this post many a time, and alongside the one on CDC guidelines it is what led me to bite the bullet and subscribe to you with the money I had left over from my student loan. Anyways, since reading your post on it, I've bought the actual books and have begun reading them for myself rather than listening to them.
